My favorite part of putting together the young composers concerts program is reading all of the insightful thoughts form the students. Here are a few of my favorites:
I have learned a lot in Matt’s class. "The main thing I really learned was that I do have a love in creating and making my own music. Not just listening to all other bands and signers, listening to my own music"
Every, single, note matters as much as a piece in a puzzle.
I have learned that there are no main rules in music there is just music.
To compose my piece I went through and let my ears do the work. I put notes in where they sounded good to me.
One day I was on the piano and I found a very good melody. Then I decided it was boring so I changed to the one I have now.
There were some times where I had to persevere more than others, but all in all it was a good experience. I have learned patience from composing music.
Music is like a sailboat. Sometimes it is smooth, and sometimes it is bumpy.
